My husband is a 44yo complete quad due to a motorcycle accident 13 1/2 yrs ago. I married him 6 mos ago. I thought my nursing background would help w/ coping and handling his care. I was so wrong. I am completely overwhelmed, exhausted and lonely. I didn't realize how isolated I would feel in this relationship. I have searched for support groups, social events anything for our age group and have not found any. Our marriage is very strained at this point and we are going thru counseling at church but unless you go through it yourself you can't really understand and help much. I would greatly appreciate any comments, suggestions. Thank You!!

Hello Kathys

Welcome... yes as a nurse, I imagined you thought you could fix it all... boy do we learn lessons the difficult way.. if you really love your husband, you will have to surrender to the idea that your marriage will definitely be unique.. however, while the reeves have a lot of money, both Dana and Chris are rediscovering life on a whole new level... emotionally and spiritually.. you might want to check out their foundation to see what is around in terms of support etc as well..

We all are caregivers, not necessarily to quads and some of the issues may be different but we can support you and guide you to resources and more.. please feel safe and continue to post.. try to visit in the chats as well..
